NEW: Workshop LIVE - Agritechnica focus on agricultural machinery servicing

Workshop LIVE features practical and live demonstrations of repair, maintenance and conversion work with live commentary.

Good service and expert, highly-trained mechanics are important requirements for the proper functioning of the agricultural machinery market and its after sales and maintenance services. Workshop LIVE is a new feature at Agritechnica focussing on current and future requirements for agricultural and construction industry mechanics – and their training. The Workshop LIVE is also intended to attract young people into this sector.

Organised in collaboration with the Association of German Agricultural Machinery Dealers and Crafts, Workshop LIVE features practical and live demonstrations of repair, maintenance and conversion work with live commentary. Apprentices, service technicians, and master craftsmen will be demonstrating typical work including service and maintenance on a forage harvester and a tractor. Venue: Hall 7.

“With more electronics, complex hydraulics and pneumatic systems featured in increasingly intricate agricultural machinery the service and repair of this equipment has become extremely specialised,” points out Ulrich Hausmanns, DLG project manager of Workshop LIVE. “Finding suitable mechanics and training them are both challenges that will be addressed at this workshop event which we have chosen to host at Agritechnica because the whole agricultural machinery industry is gathered at this event. It is therefore the ideal setting for the mechanical profession to gain an overview of the trends in product developments. This in turn will allow them to identify the training needs of the future,” adds Hausmanns.

The current diagnostic tools are presented and work demonstrated on complex systems such as modern clutches and hydraulic pumps through to telematic diagnosis and servicing.

“This practical demonstration of repair and servicing is also an opportunity for both manufacturers and spare parts producers to view the whole process from a mechanic’s point of view,” comments Hausmanns.

Schools for mechanics, garages as well as representatives from human resources departments, marketing, engineering and production will be at the event.

Workshop LIVE has international relevance since the industry faces similar challenges in different countries.

The event is also an opportunity for young people to consider the mechanics profession as a career.

Job engine for agricultural machinery

On the last two days of the exhibition, 16 and 17 November, a job forum focusing on the technical profession is being offered. Aimed at all ages working in or planning to work in the agricultural machinery business, whether as a mechanic or an engineer, the job forum will have information on current vacancies, future market needs, education and much more. The job forum is located in hall 7 attached to Workshop LIVE.
