NEW: World Soil and Tillage Show

(Hall 11 and Pavilion by Hall 11)
A new area has been developed for Agritechnica 2007. The World Soil and Tillage Show tackled various issues linked to climate change around the globe. There has been a particular focus on the connection between soil, climate and how agricultural activities can impact on our environment.
This presented exhibitors with the opportunity to showcase equipment and tillage techniques that limit soil erosion and compaction while improving soil structure and organic matter. This is of particular importance in areas such as Central Europe, North and South America, Russia/CIS where vast tracts of land must be managed in a responsible, sustainable way to ensure fertility is maintained.
Exhibits from the agricultural machinery industry has been shown and guided tours were offered. International experts were on hand to answer questions.
Agriculture and climate change
How farming adapts to climate change is a big issue facing farmers from all over the globe. The World Soil and Tillage Show presented a range of solutions.
How should producers respond to rising temperatures and unpredictable rainfall? How will the vegetation times change in the medium term in moderate latitudes? How will the water supply develop? Will we have to expect tornadoes, hailstorms, heavy rain, high water levels and flooding more frequently in future? What new plant diseases and pests are to be expected? What soil management and tillage techniques should we adopt to respond to the changes? What adaptations will result for cover crops, mechanisation, irrigation management and plant protection?

  NEW: Special presentation: LIVE Workshop

Good dealer back-up is key to any farming operation functioning effectively and if the dealer doesn’t have good staff, how can he offer the level of service that is required? Comprehensively trained experts are an important prerequisite for farm machinery to function properly. In collaboration with the Association of German Agricultural Machinery Dealers and Crafts the requirements made of mechanics for agricultural and construction machinery has been shown with the aid of practical demonstrations of repair, maintenance and conversion work with a commentary.
