Göttingen

The university city of Göttingen located in the south of Lower Saxony between the Harz mountains and the River Weser offers a rich cultural life. The dignified medieval city hall in the heart of the old city and the market fountain topped by the city’s Gänseliesel, the “most kissed girl in the world”, as well as magnificent churches and richly decorated half-timbered buildings from the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods still give this modern major city a touch of the middle ages and Hanseatic magnificence.
