Summary of the history of Agritechnica

History of Agritechnica

Agritechnica today: The world's largest "Exhibition for Agricultural Machinery"

Today Agritechnica is the world's leading exhibition for agricultural machinery. It is organised every two years by the DLG (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft e.V. – German Agricultural Society).

In 2007 almost 340,000 visitors came to see the over 2100 exhibitors at the Exhibition Grounds in Hanover. In times of globalisation, the share of participants from other countries - both exhibitors and visitors -is growing continuously.

Agritechnica: History

The DLG has been organising special exhibitions in the agricultural and food sectors for over 120 years.

AGRITECHNICA, the "International DLG Exhibition for Agricultural Machinery", based firmly in Frankfurt am Main, was held for the first time in 1985. The venue was then moved to the world's largest exhibition grounds in Hanover in the year 1995. The new location offered better conditions for presenting large-scale, modern agricultural machinery.

Agritechnica and the original touring exhibitions have always been the central location for innovations. DLG has been presenting awards for innovations already since the 1960s and these have developed to become a magnetic draw for visitors from Germany and other countries.

The next Agritechnica will be held from 10 – 14 November 2009 (Preview Days: 08 + 09 November)
